Couple from West Bengal Found Dead in Rented Room in Delhi’s Karol Bagh; Suicide Suspected
A couple from West Bengal was found dead in a rented room in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area on Sunday morning. The tragic discovery was made when neighbours grew suspicious after the couple was not seen since the previous night. The police were called, and the door was broken open in their presence.
The couple was identified as migrant labourers who had been working in Delhi for the last few months. The room had been rented by them in a narrow lane of Karol Bagh, where many other workers were also staying. It was said that they had been struggling with financial difficulties.
A suicide note was found near the bodies. The note was written in Bengali and mentioned personal problems and stress. No signs of forced entry or violence were found at the scene. The bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Neighbours said that the couple mostly stayed indoors and interacted very little with others. They were last seen on Saturday evening. Their mobile phones were taken by the police for further investigation.
Family members of the deceased were informed by the authorities. They were expected to arrive in Delhi soon to claim the bodies. The local police registered a case and started an investigation.
According to initial police reports, poisoning or consumption of harmful substances was suspected. The final cause of death would be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.
Mental health concerns were also being considered. Authorities reminded citizens that emotional support is available through helplines and counselling centres. Awareness about mental health was again stressed after this unfortunate event.
The incident has shocked the local community, where many migrant workers live under similar conditions. More help and support for labourers was demanded by social workers and residents.
